Threadbare collective is a group of artists who’s primary medium is printmaking. This shifty group of printmakers came together over a love of generic brand frozen corndogs and late night human foosball games.

Threadbare Collective designed this art exhibition around a book of newspaper clippings from the 1800s. The book has been passed down through a New England family for generations. It includes hundreds of clippings from the Boston Globe at the turn of the century. In this digital age, we were struck by the preserved clippings and fascinated by the language used to describe all types of calamity. One could argue that our current news cycle is no more outlandish, destructive, polarizing and pessimistic than it was 100 years ago.

We came across the book when a friend lent it to us. Her family had known the recluse living in Massachusetts who spied on his neighbors via binoculars and created this unique book.

This book allows us the opportunity to descend into the dialog of forgotten narratives and shady mishaps. With this we indulged ourselves in the spectacle, as well as sameness of the late 1800’s news cycle.
